About the Event
Greenwich Historical Society presents the second annual student-curated exhibit highlighting personal family stories and artifacts gathered as part of the My Story, Our Future project. A collaborative initiative organized by the India Cultural Center, the Asian and Asian American Studies Institute at UConn, and Greenwich Historical Society, the project aims to collect and contribute stories about South Asian American youth identity in Connecticut in support of the state’s mandated K-12 Asian American/Pacific Islander curriculum. Student participants spent the fall of 2023 learning to interview family members on their experiences as immigrants to North America from South Asia. The exhibit will be on view in the Historical Society Museum Lobby from February 4-25.
ICC founders Nisha Arora, Mudita Bhargava, and Meera Gilbert will be guest speakers at the exhibit opening and reception at 3:00 pm on Sunday, February 4. The reception is open to the public but RSVP's are required. If you would like to attend, rsvp to info@iccgreenwich.org.
You can listen to the students' oral histories HERE.
