About the Event
ICC has arranged to co-sponsor the inaugural program of New Canaan Library's World Music Series with master musicians Ranendra Das (tabla) and Satyaki Dutta (sarod). Tabla is a North Indian instrument that consists of two drumheads made of goatskin. Sarod is a North Indian fretless melodic instrument originating from the lute family with eight main strings and fifteen additional sympathetic strings.

Ranendra Das was born a musician; his father sang Bengali Folk Music and recited taals (musical compositions) to him. His formal tabla training began at age 3. He has been teaching and performing since 1996. Ranendra graduated cum laude with his Bachelor of Music Performance from the University of Bridgeport and earned his MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College. He founded PARA Academy of Music and Arts, LLC in 2018.
